Spark Your Legacy

At Spark SF Public Schools our work is made possible because of thoughtful, passionate individuals who give their support for the people and communities they love - a community where all of our children have access to an engaging and challenging preK-12 education. We hope that you will consider making a legacy gift to Spark SF Public Schools in your estate plans. Including Spark in your will or trust provides you with the satisfaction of knowing that your bequest will enable future generations to participate fully in our city and community life. Legacy gifts sustain our mission to preserve and enhance public education as an option for all San Franciscans.

Types of Gifts

GIFTS BY WILL

A will or living trust can help ensure that your loved ones will be provided for and your charitable giving goals will be met.

GIFTS THAT PROVIDE INCOME

You can make a gift that provides income to you and/or a loved one for life or a set period of time. Assets remaining in the gift plan at the end of the payment period will then benefit Spark SF Public Schools.

GIFTS OF APPRECIATED PROPERTY

If you own securities such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate or other property that has increased in value over time, leaving that property to Spark SF Public Schools may result in significant tax savings. Giving appreciated property can help conserve cash for other uses, and the tax savings allows many to make a larger gift than you thought possible.

GIFTS OF LIFE INSURANCE OR RETIREMENT ASSETS

You can also name Spark SF Public Schools as the beneficiary of life insurance policies or retirement plans. These assets can be an excellent way to make a charitable gift because:

  • There is no need to make any changes to your will or living trust;

  • Spark SF Public Schools is a qualified charity, therefore the funds will be distributed to Spark free of any taxes;

  • You retain complete control over your assets. Your gift will be transferred to Spark SF Public Schools only after your lifetime, so you may be able to make a much larger gift than you ever expected.

Sample Bequest Language
