Advancing Excellence in Teaching and Learning

A bold new step in life sciences education for SFUSD students.

Inspiring the next generation of scientists, innovators & problem solvers.
San Francisco is a global life sciences leader — but 80% of employers report a shortage of skilled workers. The Mission Bay Hub is designed to change that.
We're building a $16M state-of-the-art life sciences learning space for SFUSD high schoolers, opening January 2026.
The Vision
What It Is
The Mission Bay Hub is a 11,149 sq ft, hands-on STEM campus
Located on the 4th floor of SFUSD’s new Mission Bay Elementary School, the Hub will include:
• Cutting-edge life sciences labs
• Patient care simulation space
• Maker's area for design & engineering
• Collaborative research zones
Why Here
This neighborhood is home to UCSF’s cutting-edge medical campuses, Kaiser Permanente, biotech startups, and world-class research institutions like QB3 and the Gladstone Institutes.
By placing students in the center of this vibrant ecosystem, the Hub gives them direct access to the people, tools, and ideas shaping the future of health and science. It’s more than proximity — it’s immersion.
