Spark-Powered Partnerships: Super Bowl Spirit, SFUSD Joy 🏈

During last month’s Super Bowl festivities, we celebrated moments of connection and community in our schools. These moments do more than improve spaces or bring joy—they send a clear message to students: You matter. Your learning environment matters. Even in challenging times, partnerships like these remind us why this work matters.

At Lakeshore Elementary, the 49ers Foundation unveiled a “Tackling Literacy” book vending machine, released a children’s book by Hall of Famer Patrick Willis, and hosted a school-wide pep rally. Thanks to Justin Prettyman, Jenna and Mara York, and Patrick Willis for bringing books and excitement to the Lakeshore Leopards, and to SFUSD Commissioner Alida (Lee) Fisher and District 4 Supervisor Alan Wong for celebrating literacy and attendance.

At Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academic Middle School, we joined Mayor Daniel Lurie, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, 49ers CEO Al Guido, and Bay Area Host Committee CEO Zaileen Janmohamed to highlight the Super Bowl Legacy Grant, building on last year’s Sports for All initiative. Thanks to Lowe’s and volunteers for the courtyard beautification.
